Matías Rosales

Matías began his musical journey playing the saxophone and electric bass in various jazz, ska, and punk ensembles. These musical genres continue to reflect the energy and interest in rhythmic textures that set his music apart. He studied at UC in Chile, where he earned a bachelor's degree in music composition. Later, he completed a Master's degree in instrumental and vocal composition at CNSMD Lyon, studying under Philippe Hurel.

He has completed a Doctorate in music composition through a Franco-German program involving the University of Strasbourg, Haute École des Arts du Rhin, and Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. Under the supervision of Daniel D’Adamo and Moreno Andreatta, his research focuses on formal models in composition and on how algorithmic systems can translate musical information for instrumental music, electronic music, and mechanical music.

His repertoire encompasses orchestral music, chamber music, solo works, electronic and mixed compositions, including real-time interactive videos and lighting. He also participates in various projects as a performer of electronic systems and improvisations, using both saxophone and electronics.

A portion of his work is published by Note En Bulle Éditions. He has released a monographic album titled Musicas Extremas in digital and cassette formats through Sello Modular, as well as the album 20–24 in digital and cassette formats under the Cosmovisión Registros Andinos label, featuring works created for the ensemble HANATSUmiroir.
